(to assure all construction is in conformance with city standards in all public right of ways and new subdivisions)

• Specifications and Contract Documentation
• Provision of Construction Phase Contract Administration
• Utility Locates (on Public Right of Ways and City Property)

Engineering Provides Inspection Services for:

  • Sanitary Sewer Lines
• Best Management Practices (BMP)

The Engineering Department reviews:

• Subdivision Plats
• Site Plans
• Building Permit Applications

The Engineering Department Administers:

• The City’s Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance
• Maintains Files of Elevation Certificates

The Engineering Department receives petitions for street and utility improvements.

Prepares and maintains assessment files.

The Engineering Department is home to Goldsboro’s Integrated Traffic Signal System

This system contains

• 42 Miles of Fiber Optic Cable
• 122 NCDOT and City of Goldsboro Traffic Signals

Our Staff is responsible for the 24 hour day to day operation, maintenance, and timing of our area’s traffic signals.
